This beautiful and rare 6 light Dachluhr Vienna regulator fits the description of a "Late Dachluhr" style Vienna regulator, and is in beautiful condition. The dachluhr Vienna regulators are one of the earliest styles of Vienna regulator and were made from about 1800 into the Biedermeier period. The clock measures approximately 54” long by 13 1/3” wide at the widest point. It runs 45 days on a winding. The case is a beautiful Mahogany with contrasting satin banding highlights. The clock glass is old wavy glass.

The dial measures 7 1/4“ inside the bezel and 8 1/8” OD over the beautiful engine turned bezel. As is normal for the Austrian made Vienna regulators, the movement is unsigned, and there is no maker's mark or serial numbers. Notice the fine hands, characteristic of only the finest older Vienna regulators. The pendulum suspension spring hangs from the back of the movement. The back of the pendulum bob is Brass. Notice the round beat adjusting mechanism. These features only appear on the very rare older Vienna regulators.

The movement has been recently cleaned and oiled. The clock runs well and keeps good time.

Here is your oportunity to own one of the fine early timepieces that are representative of the period.

Caveats: I believe that the finish has been "restored" sometime in the recent past using the original "French Polish" finish materials and techniques . As I understand it, most of these 150 + year old clocks have needed some restoration to the finish at some point in time. The top and bottom carvings are perfect and very proper, but may be later restorations. The wall stabilizers as well are very proper, but may be later replacements. There are some hairline cracks in the porcelain dial that I have tried to show in the pictures.
