Last edited March 31, 2008

Item Number B0151:

Very attractive Biedermeier style, Viennese single weight regulator with a one piece flat dial and cast brass pie crust bezel.

See Description and pictures below:

$2650 USD plus S&H (NOW ON HOLD)!

Beautiful circa 1845 Biedermeier Vienna regulator in beautiful Mahogany wood case. This Vienna regulator is of classic design and proportions with a beautifully detailed crown and tail. The week running single train movement is provided with a dead beat escapement, and beat regulation. The rare signed ‘one-piece’ porcelain dial has fine Roman numerals, delicate blued steel hands and an early pie crust bezel. The dial is signed on the back, not the front and is signed Franz Mossingler, Wien. The pendulum has a wood rod and the brass cased weight is supported by a most attractive pulley. This is a most rare and collectible antique Vienna regulator as very few of the Biedermeier style Vienna regulators were ever made.

The clock is approximately 43" long . It is just about 11" wide at it's widest. The case has banding wood around the windows and other areas of the clock. The banding wood is light colored. This light colored banding wood is often referred to "satin banding".

The dial has a signature only on the back of the dial. The dial is nice and bright with no vivible hairline cracks but has some minor repaired damage around the winding hole (as is usual for these 150+ year old clocks). The pendulum stick is made from wood. The front and back of the pendulum bob are both brass.

Caveats: The head and tail appear to be later cast "gesso". I believe thay are later replacements, but very appropriate for the period. The wall stabilizers are very similar although not a perfect match, but very proper for this clock. As can be seen in the pictures, there are a few small "wear" areas of the case that are not perfect.

This clock is really terrific , it runs well and keeps good time. This clock would be a wonderful addition to your home or collection.
