Item Number J018:

Very attractive Altdeutsch style 2 weight Gebruder Resch Vienna Regulator. .

Price **** REDUCED to $1150 USD plus S&H! (ON HOLD)****

Beautiful circa 1885 Vienna regulator in light wood case (probably Walnut). This Vienna regulator is of classic design and proportions.

Offered from my personal collection is a vienna clock I've owned and kept running for seven or more years, and an extremely impressive one at that. It's one of the Gebruder Resch/ Remember clocks, from the most legendary factory in Austria, a two-weight running eight days and counting the hour, then striking once on the half hour. I think the case is walnut veneer but I'm not certain.

Click on the pictures below for a high resolution picture. Some of these pictures may take a quite a while to load if you do not have high speed access. Below the pictures is a more detailed description.

Dimensions are approximately 52 inches high by 16 1/4 wide at the greatest width by 7 1/4 deep at the greatest depth. The decorative top crest removes and I believe is original. The clock has the usual place of separation of the wood here and there, but relatively insignificant. The dial featuring a signature has a few visible "hairlines" as the photo shows.Such hairlines are common in many antique dials. But there are no major chips in the porcelain. The third photo gives you a nice view of the signature.

The weights might not be original. This often happens as a clock travels through more than a century of time...they seem a little to large in diameter as there is no space between them. If you carefully wind the weights and keep the right side weight spaced a few inches above the left one, all should be well. Otherwise the clock operates fine. I guess the occasional eccentricity is part of the charm of having a wonderful old clock!

All-in-all an impressive antique wall clock, largely original at a definite entry-level price into the satisfying world of collecting weighted Austrian viennas!
